NEWS: Final changes to poultry waste regulations will be presented by DEQ to the State Water Control Board at their next meeting on Oct. 26-27, 2009. The meeting will convene at 9:30 a.m. in the General Assembly Building, Richmond, VA. Changes that were made to the proposed regulation due to public comments are as follows: 1) The tonnage threshold triggering recordkeeping will remain at 10 tons; 2) The annual reporting requirement for growers was removed and data will continue to be collected during the annual inspection; 3) The recordkeeping question regarding how the end-user will obtain an appropriate land application rate was removed, meaning growers and brokers will not be expected to ask for this information.
**Effective Nov. 1, 2009, operation of the Poultry Litter Hotline will revert back to the Virginia Poultry Federation. Please note the phone number will be 866-433-2451.**
